On the Trail.
OP Trip Leaders.
Trip Leader
The Trip Leader is responsible for the group's safety and the delivery of an enjoyable adventure trip. Trip Leaders must demonstrate the skills and knowledge to safely lead a group.
Certification Requirements
Wilderness First Aid, Wilderness Advanced First Aid or Wilderness First Responder, and CPR.
Job Requirements
Must have worked as Assistant Trip Leader on at least 3 trips.
Be in good physical condition, able to handle regular physical demands of trip and still have sufficient reserves of energy to attend to the physical or psychological needs of participants.
Must demonstrate excellent judgment and maturity as a leader.
Ability to manage a trip group.
Demonstrate effective teaching skills.
Assess the needs of a group and design appropriate activities to meet those needs.
Manage emergency and rescue scenarios that may be encountered on a trip.
Significant experience in the activity area, including having worked for another agency in a leadership role.
Ability to anticipate problems and concerns.
Interview and evaluation by the Director.
Job Responsibilities
The same responsibilities as the Rental Assistant with the additions of:
Provide training, support and mentoring to other staff.
Overall responsibility for the entire trip. (This includes the safety and welfare of staff and participants.)
Provide a positive and high quality experience.
Select appropriate activities based on participants skill and fitness levels.
Complete all risk management paperwork in a timely manner.
Complete a thorough trip summary report and post trip clean up.
Other duties as assigned.

Assistant Trip Leader
The Assistant Trip Leader will assist the Trip Leader in all aspects of the trips. The purpose of this position is to learn the skills that will be needed to lead trips.
Certification Requirements
CPR & Standard First Aid
Job Requirements
Must have worked as Rental Assistant for at least 40 hours.
Must have successfully completed OP's Adventure Trip Leader Training.
Interview and evaluation by the Director.
Job Responsibilities
The same responsibilities as the Rental Assistant with the additions of:
Assist in trip planning.
Interact and help participants on trips.
Help with camp set up and meals.
Attend pre-trip meetings.
Assist with paperwork.
Assist in post trip clean up.
Assist in the overall management and safety of the trip.
Be aware of and limit potential environmental impact of programs.
Other duties as assigned.

Rental Assistant
This is a volunteer / OPS (paid) position. The purpose of being a Rental Assistant is to learn the policies, procedures and philosophies of Outdoor Pursuits. In this position we are also trying to familiarize you with the different rental equipment. This prepares you for repairs in the field.
Requirements
A willingness to learn and to follow through with the information acquired.
Complete tasks assigned.
Show initiative and be creative about all aspects of Outdoor Pursuits.
Complete a Staff Checklist.
Adhere to a set semester long schedule.
Interview and evaluation by the Director.
Job Responsibilities
Superior customer service skills.
Check in rental equipment.
Assist customers with rentals.
Learn how to use, maintain and repair all outdoor equipment available from Outdoor Pursuits.
Answer phones and assist customers coming into the office.
Register customers for Outdoor Pursuits trips.
Ensure that all OP paperwork is completed properly.

If you abuse the privileges they will be terminated. This program is on a semester-by-semester basis. These privileges are for your use only.
