FITNESS & WELLNESS: STUDENT JOB OPPORTUNITIES
The Leach Center hires students each semester as front desk assistants, fitness instructors, and group exercise leaders. Below is a description of fitness-related job opportunties. Link to the Facility section for information on Leach facility-related (front desk, etc) jobs.

Fitness Consultants    
OPS position. Duties include: Customer service representative for the fitness department.  Ensuring safe and appropriate practices in the exercise area, knowing and enforcing the Fitness Center Rules, making sure the Fitness Center is well organized and clean at all times. Applicants must have strong practical knowledge of resistance training and cardiovascular exercise and must be available to work for 3 consecutive semesters. Second semester employees must sit for and successfully pass NSCA-CPT Certification (or comparable national PT certification).  Third semester employees will train clients as a nationally certified personal trainer.  Exercise Science majors encouraged to apply. Applications will be available/accepted 1 month prior to the end of each semester at the Fitness Counter ONLY. Successful candidates will be required to attend 6 days of mandatory training in preparation for 2 theoretical exams. Federal work-study students may apply.
Wage: Minimum Wage - $9.00 per hour.
Hours: 15+ per week.

Fitness Desk Monitor 
OPS position.  Fitness desk monitors must demonstrate strong customer service and organization skills. Fitness desk monitors will gain experience dealing with customers, scheduling, and other administrative duties. Fitness Desk Monitors will not train clients or write fitness programs. The Fitness Desk Monitor works under the Assistant Director of Fitness and Senior Instructor in the FSU Fitness Center. 
Wage: Minimum Wage .
Hours: 12-15 per week.

Group Exercise Instructors 
 
OPS position. Group Exercise Instructors must possess: Nationally recognized certification (ACE, AFAA, etc.), Adult C-PRO and First Aid Certifications, knowledge/teaching ability of all forms of aerobics (to include STEP and Hi/Low), knowledge of 32 count combinations, and good communication skills. Prior teaching experience is preferred. Applications will be available when advertised.  All successful candidates will be expected to attend mandatory trainings, dates TBA.
Wage: $12.00 per hour.
Hours: 2-5 per week.

Spinning Instructors    
OPS position. Spinning Instructors must possess: Spinning Certification through Mad Dogg Athletics (must procure a JGSI#), Adult C-PRO and First Aid Certifications, knowledge of Spinning profiles and proper bike set-up/safety as well as good communication skills. Successful candidates will be required to attend mandatory training and mandatory cleaning sessions throughout the semester. Applications will be available/accepted when staffing needs arise and will be available at the Fitness Counter. Auditions will be held pending the applicant pool.
Wage: $12.00 per hour.
Hours: 2-5 per week.

Fitness Testers    

OPS position.  Fitness testers have the opportunity to gain experience in the following areas: exercise testing protocols on the Polar Tri-Fit System, cardiovascular sub max testing, and the evaluation of the 5 components of fitness.  Applicants must have a strong educational background in Exericise Science, Nutrition and Fitness, or other related fields.  Those who have taken PET4551 and/or PET3380c will be given priority.   Successful candidates are required to attend a mandatory training.

Wage: Minimum Wage.

Hours: 6-10 per week.

Wellness Educators   

OPS position.  Wellness educators will have the opportunity to gain experience in the following areas: nutrition, fitness, customer service, small group education, public speaking, and communication skills.  Applicants must have a strong educational background in Exercise Science, Dietetics, Nutrition and Fitness, and/or other related fields.  Those who have taken HUN3224 and/or HUN3226 will be given priority.  Successful candidates are required to attend a mandatory training.

Wage: Minimum Wage.

Hours: 6-10 per week.

Maintenance Assistants 
OPS position. Maintenance Assistants duties include being familiar with the respective cleaning/maintenance procedures and to carry out cleaning and maintenance of the Fitness Center facility and equipment, based on a daily cleaning schedule. Apart from the stipulated maintenance routines, it is pertinent that the maintenance staff familiarize themselves with equipment repair as the need arises. Applications will be accepted at the start of each semester. Federal Work Study and International Students may apply.
Wage:Minimum Wage.
Hours: 10-15 per week.

Application process will open when staffing needs arise.  Advertisements will be posted online and in the Leach Center.  Applications will be available at the Fitness Counter, located in the atrium of the Leach Center.
