Alexandra "Alex" Bacha
Hometown: Titusville/”Central Florida”
Favorite outdoors trip I've been on and why: This question is incredibly hard to answer but I guess would say any trip on the Wacissa. This local river is one of my favorite places. It is close and beautiful with plenty of wildlife (and I am not just talking gators and birds). Plus Big Blue spring is a great place to play and eat lunch.
Why I'm apart of FSU Outdoor Pursuits: When I was a little girl my aunt would take me on outdoor trips in the Northeast (like the White Mountains, NH) and I absolutely loved it. So I was super excited to find out that FSU offered outdoor trip opportunities and was eager to take advantage. Taking the Outdoor Adventure Education course (LEI3266, taught by our director Lee Murphy) introduced me to Outdoor Pursuits. My first trip was the St Augustine Kayak (Fall 2005) and I also took the Wilderness First Aid course. I volunteered Spring 2006 because I wanted to be more involved with the program and I after ALTA I was hooked on OP.
The other stuff I do here at FSU:
FSU Challenge Facilitator
Camp Flastacowo Travel Camp Recreation Leader
Academic interests:
Business Minor Certificate Spring 2008
Recreation Leisure Services Administration Program within the College of Education |

in the canopy above; Poetic!
Why I'm apart of FSU Outdoor Pursuits: The skills that I have learned, and the experiences that I have
had, through this program are innumerable, and one of the greatest
things about this program is the opportunity that I have to teach

for, others.

Favorite outdoors trip I've been on and why: Climbing in Poudre

for their climbing routes. And I had good company.
Why I'm apart of FSU Outdoor Pursuits: As someone who is concerned

my reason for concern.

Update:
It has been reported that Brain is living in the woods somewhere around G'ville...supposedly no running water, no indoor plumbing , or electric...not a single luxury. |

| Tiffany
Schaltenbrand. |
Tiffany Kim Schaltenbrand
Hometown: Beautiful New Port Richey, Florida!
Favorite outdoors
trip I've been on and why: I have had so many but I'll choose
one: A couple years back I went camping in Smokie Mountain National
Park for like a week, It rained the whole time...but it was beautiful.
Throughout the trip we hiked trails to tucked away waterfalls,
up mountain sides and that whole deal. My favorite part was when
my brother and I got in a stream and walked the whole way down
against the rapid currents. Theres nothing like waking up in the
woods, and the Smokies have some quality woods!
Piece of gear
I can't live without: My flip flops - I do everything w/ em'!
Why I'm apart
of FSU Outdoor Pursuits: "The Outdoors" is every bit a part of
me as my skin or my hair. I grew up in and was raised to
love and use nature to my advantage. I could never live in a city
- I'm a country girl! And I don't understand how people can spend
days on end inside. So my goal is to bring as many people to the
appreciation and love of the place that God gave us and encourage
others to get out there and take the bull by the horns!
The other
stuff I do here at FSU: Campus Recreation Board member,
FSU Habitat for Humanity, T25, FSU HELP, Diversity Ambassador,
volunteer, Work 2 Jobs, swim, dance, go to class (most of the
time;-))
Academic interests: Interior Design Major; also interested in art, physics, history,
literature, theater and dance.
Update:
Tiffany has supposedly moved to South Forida and is dating a rich, "older" gentlemen that is providing her the means for world travel and supporting her adventurous life style. |
