Florida State University does not provide accident insurance coverage for injuries received by Intramural
participants. Each participant should make sure that he/she has coverage either through family policies
or the student insurance plan. We cannot emphasize this point enough.
Florida State University PROHIBITS possession or consumption of alcoholic beverages on University
property. This includes the Intramural Fields and Tully Gym. Violators will be asked to leave the area.
Failure to do so can result in forfeiture of the ball game, suspension of individuals and/or teams, and
appropriate action by the University Judicial Office.
I. GENERAL ELIGIBILITY
A. Participation is limited to currently enrolled students and members of the Faculty and Staff of
Florida State University. All areas of eligibility are covered in the Intramural By-Laws
which are available through the Campus Recreation Office.
B. In order to participate in an Intramural contest each player must present their validated FSU
Identification Card. Exceptions must be directed to the Intramural Office for consideration
by the IM staff DURING REGULAR UNIVERSITY WORKING HOURS (8:00am-
5:00pm). Bring a photo ID and proof of payment to obtain a wavier from the IM staff. NO
SUCH WAIVER WILL BE GRANTED ON THE FIELD.
II. RULES
Regular intramural basketball rules will be followed except as noted below: (Revised 1997).
1. Games are divided into two halves of eighteen (18) minutes each. Running time will be used
except for time-outs and the last two minutes of the game. No shot clock will be used.
A. After any stopped clock, the clock will start when the ball is touched in bounds, or when
made alive (as in free throws).
B. Time between the halves will be left to the discretion of the game officials and/or
supervisors.
C. Three time-outs per game.
2. Each team will consist of five players: three women and two men. Substitutions are allowed
on a man-for-man and woman-for-woman basis only. A team may begin with 4 players: two
men and two women. These 2 combinations are the only combinations allowed for
playing a co-rec game.
3. All baskets count the same for men and women.
4. There are no guarding restrictions.
5. There are no lane restrictions
6. The game begins with a jump ball with a player from each team at the center restrainin
circle.
7. There are no rebound restrictions
8. Games that end in a tie during the regular season, will remain a tie.
During playoffs, a three minute overtime period will be played.
