DIVISIONS & PLAYOFF STRUCTURE
Here's a plain-English breakdown of our various leagues and divisions. See which one best fits your team's skill and interest level.
Women's and sorority leagues have a single division each. Fraternity teams have predetermined garnet & gold divisions.

Men's Division I
Where the talent is. D-I is for our advanced skill level teams. These leagues and tournaments are highly competitive. Teams advance to the All-Campus Championship Playoffs, meeting the Fraternity League champion in the All-Campus Championship final.

Men's Division I-AA
Some talent, but not all stars make up the team rosters. D-I-AA is for our intermediate skill level teams with a range of very talented and moderately talented players. Leagues and tournaments remain very competitive. Teams advance to a separate playoff tournament.

Men's Division II
Not exactly beginners, but for teams with a mix of a few skilled players and some scrubs. Teams are more interested in playing the game and perhaps winning a few than challenging for an all-campus title. Teams advance to a separate playoff tournament.

Men's Division III
No scholarships, not much talent. The "Just for Fun" league for teams interested in having a good time and not interested (so much) in actually winning. Teams participate in a separate postseason event.

Co-Rec Division I
Designed for our talented, experienced teams. These leagues and tournaments are typically highly competitive. Teams advance to the All-Campus Championship playoffs.

Co-Rec Division II
Designed for our new teams and those who are more interested in playing the game, and perhaps winning a few, than challenging for the all-campus title. Teams advance to a separate playoff tournament.

Promotions & Demotions
The IM Sports staff reserves the right to promote or demote teams among divisions, without consent as necessary, to enhance the competitiveness of the division and/or the enjoyment of the other teams in the division.

Playoff Qualification
In the simplest terms... Prior to the playoff draw meeting for your sport...
Win AT LEAST ONE game and qualify to stay in your division for the playoffs.
Win ALL of your regular season games and qualify to elect to move up one division for the playoffs. A team representative must notify the IM Staff at the playoff draw meeting of his/her team's intention to accept the promotion to the higher division, otherwise the team will remain in its regular season division for the playoffs.
Win NONE of your regular season games and your team will be dropped to the next lower division of the playoffs. A team representative may notify the IM Staff at the playoff draw meeting of his/her team's intention to stay in their regular season division for the playoffs.

Playoff Selection Order
Selection order at the playoff draw meeting is determined by sportsmanship rating (highest to lowest average) with regular season record (best to worst) serving as tiebreaker.
